Exploring Through Research

Much like planning a vacation, the first step of research involves figuring out where your final destination is going to be.
Finding out where you would like to go on vacation involves preliminary research to ensure that you are traveling to your most wanted destination. Likewise, with doing research, preliminary research must be done to make sure that you not only pick the topic that interests you the most but also to make sure that there is enough previous research done to support your topic. I am still currently in the preliminary research phase of my annotated bibliography project.

Upon completing your preliminary research for a vacation and choosing your final destination, one may wish to look on various databases for information on places to eat or excursions to take a part in. Some of these databases that one traveling may look at will most likely convey the same information. Likewise, once a final research topic has been found for someone doing research, they must explore multiple databases for information that can support and hopefully answer their research question. Although the databases may have the same or similar information, it is important to get valid and supported information, even if it is repetitive.
In order to find sources that I can use in my annotated bibliography project, I plan on using the NC State database: Summon.
The following video will help users with navigating Summon.
Vacationing often times does not turn out exactly how one may expect it to. This can be compared to research. Although you may find a topic that you thoroughly enjoy researching, finding documents that support the research may be difficult. I have not spent a lot of time researching for my annotated bibliography project so far. However, I have come to terms that things will most likely not go completely smoothly.

When finding a research question for my project, I hope to find something that I can strongly relate to. In doing this, I have high hopes that I will be able to learn from mistakes and possibly understand why certain events happen from a psychological standpoint.
